Kibbutz Dan – 124rd day of war

Hi,
Today we been to Kibbutz Dan. As I wrote to you the enemy is listening, but I do think they will not gain much from this post.

The Kibbutz was founded as part of wall and tower on 1939, named after the nerby archiological site Tel Dan. The place set the border of Israel in this location, and suffered heavy attacks from syria.

The armored tractor – the Eastern fields of the Kibbutz were on the demilitariazed zone and bordered the Syrian fields. On the years between Independence war and the Six day war the Syrian sniped and mined. The armored tractor allowed the workers to agriculture every step till the border

Paz gate, which was part of the settlement design of the architect  Richard Kauffmann: A olive tree boulevard that stretched from the gate to Ussishkin house.

The bakery was founded on 1940, when the road to bring supplies was through Arab villages. The brick oven is now used for a coffeehouse

The laundry building built on 1952. The Kibbutz members throw the laundry through small windows on the front and got their clothes clean the same day

Ussishkin house – history and nature museum named after Menachem Ussishkin. A note from October 7th, announcing the museum will be closed due to the circumstances (it had been closed since then).

Syrian T-34 tank – on the second day of the Six Day war, 6.6.67, 2 teams of Syrian commando and 6 tanks attacked the Kibbutz and were pushed back. This tank was tied and brought here from the Kibbutz fields. The pliffed Syrian tank in the Banias was one of those 6 tanks.

Israel national trail original beginning. For safety reasons, hikers advised to begin in Tel Hai. Nowadays, nobody hikes here for secuirty reasons.

The north post – one of several guarding post around the Kibbutz before independence war. Used as a mark point for weapon and immigrants smugglers. For some time it hosted young couples and Radio Kol Dan
