Dag Al HaDan – 137th day of the war

Hi,
We had a short visit to see if something time in Dag Al HaDan. It is very sad to see this cheerful place so empty with only the fish pools still running.

The place has a fish restaurant, fish store, waddling pools, camping (on another site), kayaking and soon a deli. The south Paldi rivulet of the Dan River flowing through it and gives the place a beauty you need to see.

I hope the place and the rest if the empty settlements along the Lebanon border will soon go back to place and we can visit it with Atzva and the kids.

Take Care
Gad

P.S. because someone got confused, we call the place Dag DeGan (which in Hebrew means Clitoris (that what happens when you are on reserve duty)

In the entrance to the place stands a rock with a text describe the story of Yuki Avishay , the founder of Dag AlHdanIn the entrance to the place stands a rock with a text describing the story of Yuki Avishay , the founder of Dag Al Hdan:
In 1978, when he was 31 years old, Yuki (Yakov) Avishay left Kibbutz Dan, where he was born, with his wife and elder son, to Moshav Beit Hillel As he was looking for a place to fulfill his dreams, he got to this place, which was mostly empty. As he was a man of imagination, vision, and work, he understood the potential of the area. He decided to dig a shallow tunnel that connected to cold water of the Dan River and started growing Trout fish. In 1986, he opened Dag Al HaDan restaurant as he saw her unique: magic nature, flowing water, and, of course, the fresh trout growing in place. He continued to make imagination to reality – In the 1990s’ he was the first in Israel to grow fosh on cages on the Mediterranean sea when he settled the fish farm on Ashdod port, which became one of the largest in Israel. During his life, he was a breakthrough fisherman in projects in Israel and abroad. Some succeeded, some failed, and he used to say, “The failure is the best teacher.” In the ladt chapter of his life, and although he was sick, he got every day to the restaurant, through the Platanus trees boulevard he had planted, to work, to check the fish swims in the pools, and to enjoy its work. Yuki passed away in 2021, when he was 73 years old. He left behind him, a wife, five kids, and grandchildren.
“And he shall be like a tree planted by streams of water.” Psalms, chapter 1, 3
