Municipal elections in the army – 143rd day of war

Hi,
I do remember one time I had to vote on the elections in the army. It was somewhere near engineering corps school (Bahalatz 14), which couple of dozens of km north of Eilat.

The picture in my head is of a plateau of sand, with our PUMAs (Engineering APCs) in the same color. In the middle of it stands a table with a blue divider, sticking out in the sea of yellow sand around it.

I do not remember who I vote for, but I guess it was for Meretz as I usually do. But when I look on the election dates for the Knesset, it seems those for the 16th Knesset were on January 28th, 2003 (before I drafted), and those for the 17th Knesset were on the March 28th, 2006 (two days before I was done with my military mandatory duty, was on vacation and for sure did not training).

The municipal elections took place on October 28th, 2004, so it makes sense that those are the elections I remember. And I do not remember who I voted for back then… 🙂

As you do not vote in your municipal area, the notes behind the divider are empty, and you need to fill the name of the party and mayor in a clear hand write. As nobody remembers, what are the letters of the parties, there is a notebook with all the candidates in all the municipalities.

When you go out to put the envelopes with the notes in the ballot box, the secretary of the voting place, put your envelopes in another set of envelopes and write you name and address on them. That is so they can the envelopes to the municipality your vote for.
