Solar panels supply ☀️- 165th day of war

Hi,
A several years had passed since I wrote to you about the solar panels Aba have installed on the roof of my parents house in Har Adar (about 3 and half years).

The issue of solar panels (as well as other green energy) had been raised this week for a couple of reasons.

The first one is the not war against Hezbollah along Israel – Lebanon border. In 2nd Lebanon war, some of the important locations been targeted by IAF attack aircraft were Lebanon power supply sites. The fear is when a full scale war will begin, Hezbollah would do the same and Israel power supply sites will be part of the first targets to be hit.

Solar panels, as well as other green energy facilities such as wind turbines, are spread of bigger area and on many small locations. That means Hezbollah will have to bomb many small locations and have only a small effect on the power supply it create. Moreover,  they can create a small grid of power supply near them without the need of the big power stations and hopefully to produce enough power for emergency.

Another reason why the solar panels and other green energy facilities had been on the headlines, is that a week ago (Match 12th) for two hours, those facilities had produced 50% of Israel power supply!

Yes been a sunny day (meaning more electricity from the solar panels), but not too hot (meaning there was not need for heat or AC to be turned on, and less electricity needed), and still with enough wind (to turn on the wind turbines). Yes, it is only 50% of the demand (while European countries manage to supply 100% of the demand). Yes, it is only for two hours (while the above countries supply for several days). Yes, we should have been up to Europe level on this time (as a sunny country) – but it is a big mile stone to be proud of
