CQB – Close Quarters Battle

Hi,
“There is no only one right way in CQB (Close quarters battle), but we all need to agree on one way – so we will be consistent with”. And this is when thing started to get complected.

Engineering Corps soldiers does not practice much in CQB during the military reserve duty, and neither do us. And even if we did – Each one would probably come with his own ideas and techniques.

As they say about Jews, where you have 2 Jews – there are about 3 opinions. So you can understand how our close quarter battle training sometimes turn into a decision training instead of how to really enter into a building or a room in an apartment.

I remember the first time we been sent to practice it as team after we been called up after October 7th, there were no guides or instructors to let us understand how to train. We were sent to an abandon IDF base with several one story buildings to practice on.

Our team commander started with what he knew, but after one set – everyone started to throw out some ides. Everyone had a different method he had been thought, up to some level, in mandatory duty. Some had been watching to much movies. Others are playing Airsoft, and created there own methods.

So we were training for ten minutes and for the rest of the time, we had been arguing and discussing – what is the best way to take over a building.

Combine it with the fact, that buildings are built in different ways – you end up with endless options to take over those structures. And about 3 times more opinions on how to do so…
