Hi,
Our company adopted Nefel, or better say – one of our company soldiers have adopted Nefel. She is a dog which came to visit us in the house in defense we were staying in Lebanon. But she also went out to mission with us.
It did not matter for her , if the mission was several km away, and we got there by Hummers. She somehow appeared in the place – probably by running after the Hummers (which is quite crazy when thinking about it).
We basically smuggled her into Israel, as getting animals into Israel had to carefully observed to avoid diseases getting in with them. This way she was sent to 40 days of quarantine when we she was taken to the vet.
I guess this is not the only law we passed. IDF laws demand to stay away from any dog. This comes out of fear of soldier getting bitten – which means they have to be sent home to get Rabies shots.
Nefel means Unexploded device in Hebrew. And we had several of those. It is ain’t fun when you are working several hours: unloading the material, placing it, arrange the system, pulling back and when pulling the trigger – just a small blast happens.
But do not worry, Nefel did not caused any of those – but giving her the name is a good way of moving the curse of our system not exploding to the dog. As we are do wish her, and any other pet or animal, not to explode – but do wish for our systems to explode.
Take Care

Nefel the dog in the entrance to ground floor of the house in defense we were staying in, asking for food, water and pet from us.
Sitting proudly in the back of the Hummer back to Israel, hopefully for better life than running after military vehicles covered with sand powder and begging for food and water.
