12 Tent

Hi,
It does not matter how empty or isolated the place might be, it pretty easy to recognize it is an army base – 12 tent.

It is another surpluses from the US army equipment, just like the magazines for the assault rifles. But unlike the magazines, it does not seem like the IDF will get new ones any time soon.

That mean, of course, they pretty torn and worn out. It is not a an enjoyment to sleep in it during a storm, or when it is just raining. Even the morning dew can get you completely wet if you choose the wrong spot (And I know…)

I am pretty sure they called 12 tent (at least this is how we refer to them here), because 12 people can sleep inside. But someone once mentioned that this their catalogue number, but I never seen mentioned anywhere else.

In US you can find them under General purpose medium tent, and so do they refereed to in china, If you ever think of buying on for yourself.

Building it is pretty easy, and I even notice there are instructions in the inside of it. During the selection for pilot course in the IDF, the soldiers are asked to build one of those tents to sleep in (so I heard, never been to one….). I think the idea is to see how they handle with doing something they never did as a group, and single persons.

Take Care
Gad
