The tank junction

Hi,
The last time I been to the Tank junction (or Shi’on junction, after the stream that run underneath it) was when we took responsibility over during the Hasbani Valley (as we call it – Caught a Line) during military reserve duty on February 2024.

Back then, we were not allowed to drive the roads around it during the day, only at night for the fear of Hezbollah anti-tank missiles.

It was a cold and rainy night we first got there, and we stood our vehicles behind the high protective concrete walls that were located there for the same reason (Hezbollah anti-tank missiles threat).

Now that the Hasbani Valley is no longer a closed military area, you can drive the roads freely, and the concrete walls were removed.

Standing on the junction, you can see freely all the way to El-Khiyam (in Lebanon) and Ghajar underneath it (the junction allows to those driving between Golan Heights and Qiryat Shmona to turn to Ghajar)

The name of the junction comes from the Syrian Tank of the attack on Kibbutz Dan in the Six Day war, which was hit and stuck here. Now the tank stands in Kibbutz Dan, near Ussishkin house (another tank of the six on the attack is stuck upside down in the Banias stream)

Take Care
