General mood – 119th day of war

Hi,
So, how is the general mood in Israel? Depends who you ask and when.

There are days you wake up in the morning and shocked to know a dozen soldiers had died yesterday, and the rumors goes that many more names will be published during the day. This is clearly a day we are all very depressed, no matter if it your wedding day or so.

But I think we can split the general mood in Israel into 2 groups: those who support another hostage deal with Hamas in any price and those who do not (you can say the first are left-wing and the second group are right-wing supporters, but it might be only me).

The first group says each fighting day makes things worse for the hostages (there were 3 hostages that were accidental shot by IDF soldiers a couple of weeks ago). They say that we need to stop everything until we get them out and then, well I guess then they do not care if we demolish Gaza to the ground. Or in case of Gaza, ten or twenty meter below ground so no tunnel will be left.

The other group says we first need to destroy Hamas (whatever that means), that when we negotiate about the cost of the hostages and claiming we need to pay any price, we just increasing the cost of the deal. Some of those are parents of hostages, arguing that they prefer their kids die by Hamas and not to see any prisoner released.

That is not because they do not love their kids, but because those released prisoners will kill other Israelis once released (the best example is Yahya Sinwar, who was released in Gilad Shalit deal and led Hamas to October 7th massacre)

On top of those there is still Kaplan force activists that call for prime minister, Bibi, to take responsibility and resign. If not for the many cases stand against him in court, for his rule in the Black Sabbath disaster.
