20 days without rain 🌧

Hi,
Sometimes we forget here in Israel we are living on the edge of the desert. It usually happens during the winter times, when it all wet and even sometimes snows. But the 20 days without rain and hot temperature in the middle of January – gave as a reminder…

We were all excited for this rain to come, as if it was at least the 2013 snow storm (although then I had other reasons to be excited about…. ). The kids were sitting by the window to watch, what become, a rare event in this winter.

We did enjoy those clear days and it was nice to have it. The nice weather made it easier for me to cross Atzva and Mindal quarantine as Jannaeus and I spent all day out, enjoying the sun and the playgrounds around us.

It also helped with the third wave of Coronavirus lockdown that we are in the middle of – again we can spend the most of the day out. And have nice walks around to the 1 km we are allowed to. Like the one we have to Napoleon’s hill last Sabbath.

But we need the rain to fall. As much Israel managed to build up distillation plants during the last years and we had a wonderful rainy winter last year it is not enough to hold the agriculture. The last time such an event happened was on 1973. A winter that later become one of the rainiest winters, some say because of the Yom Kippur war and the gunpowder of the ammunition used in it. The winter even has a song (called winter 73), but it is again on the Yom Kippur war

Moreover, I love the winter and I am happy it is finally back and hope to have some snow on times we can visit Savta and Saba and enjoy it. As Atzva once describe it on a rainy day: “You should them today to kindergarten. I hate it and you see at as an adventure”

Take Care
Gad
