Hi,
When we lived in Haifa, there was always the threat of Hazard materials factory of Bazan factory in Haifa bay. The first location of the engineering firm I am working in, was just above Bazan. We could tell if we will have high air pollution when the factory torch was burning high, and we should not go running down in the valley.
But it was well known that those are dangerous when an earthquake or a tsunami will hit those facilities. Or, what is more common in the area, a war will break and those factories will be bombed endlessly. The fear was of rockets and missiles from Lebanon. But now we also have the ballistic missiles from Iran.
Today, an Iranian missile hit Bazan factory and lit fire in it. Not that you need much to lit fire in it, I guess that if you will dig half a meter in the soil and lit a match you will get something burning. But the fear is of Hazard materials that might catch fire. For now it seems those containers and tanks are safe.
The area is also holding much of Israel oil reservoirs. That is because the British set the refineris in this location: where a port was built and set the end of oil pipeline from Iraq here.
This is not the only factory with Hazard Materials that was aimed and bombed in Israel. Yesterday a factory in Ne’ot Hovav industrial zone was hit a caught fire. The citizens around were ordered to stay home until it was clear no Hazard material tank or container was breached.
Those factories in Haifa bay and the Nuclear Research Center (near Dimona) are might be the reason why Iran is aiming more of its missiles to the north and south of Israel. That is instead of aiming to Israel major poplulation location around Tel-Aviv
Take Care
