UNRAWA (UN Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) is a unique agency for refugees in the world.
Other agencies for refugees in the world (such as UNHCR – United Nations Refugee Agency) aim to help refugees settle down and stop being refugees. As the title of a refugee should be temporary. Ask the Jewish people who have been running for thousands of years and settle.
After the evidences that showed how UNRAWA workers have helped or even were part of the terror organization of Hamas, UNRAWA announced it will open an investigation on this issue.
After the announcement, several countries declared they would stop the funds for the organization. It started with USA yesterday, and today, Canada and Australia joined in the morning. Then Italy and in the afternoon UK and Finland followed by Switzerland. I expect more countries to follow and stop or at least suspend their donations to the organization.
On the one hand, I would like to see this organization break apart as it keeps the Palestinians as refugees even though they can change their status and live. On the other hand, this change in this time will hurt the Palestinians refugees in Gaza strip even more.
This organization, in the moment, is the only one that delivers food for the poor people inside the Gaza strip. And although they choose Hamas in democratic unfortunately, it uses that privileges to also smuggle ammunition and weapons inside the strip, making itself part of the war.
