Napoleon’s Hill ⛰

Hi,
We used another sunny Sabbath morning and to climb to Napoleon’s Hill and celebrate Jannaeus 4th Birthday 🤩

It is under our 1km distance from our house as you can see in this site of the National Nature. This is one of the green areas we have access to under the new, updated and more restrict guidelines of the third lockdown.

The place is a tell about 12m high and in area of 40 Dunams. It as many archeological findings of its cities located here, but the most impressive is the vertical part of the water system of the Cannanic city.

During the time the tell was surround by massive walls and a palace was built in it (parts of those were found in the excavations). The tell was abandoned around 1000BC, reused for a short time around 1000 AD and abandoned again.

The name Napoleon’s hill memorize the French Army base placed here and was part of the 1799 Siege on Jaffa (not to confused with the hill with the same name in Acre). Its also called Tell Gerisa on the near by Arabic village Gerisa located in 7 mills.

There is no signs on the tell, so will learn much walking in it. But except the fact is a green blooming area, it has magnificent panoramic view to all directions 🙂 and many many Hamtzitzim

Take Care
Gad
