Royal wedding

Hi,

While the world was watching the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this afternoon, I was thinking about the wedding of Prince William and Kath Middleton.

It was when my parents still lived in Ramot neighborhood, not long ago. They were the only non-religous family in the block at that point (before there were some non-religious, some religious and some ultra religious. But like happened to all of Ramot neighborhood – it became ultra-religious). The rest of the families were ultra-religious (Haredi) families most of them Anglo-saxon.

Because they were Haridies they didn’t have televisions, and even the idea of having a computer was unthinkable. This is part of their of living. The smartphones, if they even have any, are Kosher. Means they don’t have access to the internet, or only limited access.

But they were all my ima friends. And when the wedding was going on, they knock on my Ima door and asked “We want to see our Prince getting married :-)” So that’s how my Ima and my little sister Fatma found themselves watching  the royal wedding. With all the neighbors that crying like their son is taking is wife home today =).

See, as much as they see themselves Ultra-Orhodox Jews who immigrated to the holy land, they are still Anglo-saxon. They are still British in their heart

Take Care
Gad
