February 6th 2015 – Golan Heights Volcanoes, Israel 🌋

Golan Heights, Israel
Hi,
Atza and I first wedding anniversary!
So we decided on a trip with a subject – Fire!… well, not exactly – more like Volcanoes…. inactive (dormant) volcanoes… =P

The only place we have volcanoes here in Israel is the Golan Heights. So we packed our stuff (we forgot a lot of things, like the Poyke pot, so we had to come back), and start driving.

The Golan Heights is basically a plateau. The only mountains on it are dormant volcanoes, this why the Israeli-Syrian border is starch along their line. we drove from one to another – learning about the Volcanoes, watching the view (Israeli an Syrian) and some history:

The Golan Heights were one of the fronts of Yom Kippur War (the other were Sinai) and almost every site has an heroic story of a fight.

“Look on those eyes observing you the passerby; see those faces staring you from those portraits. Those are the faces of our forever young friends, whose names we engraved in stone, after they fell in the battle, here on this hill, in the horror and heroism of the Yom Kippur War in 1973.
We survived the battles and returned to life. We have created this monument for you the passerby, to tell you the story of giving and deviation and faith, and proclaim the forever we will remember with great love our brother-in-arms, their beauty, their valor and their sacrifice.”
