War singer – 31st day of war 🎤

Hi,
We have been visited today by Ehud Banai, a singer who came to perform as a war singer and raise up our moral (which is low, as we are mainly waiting in the north).

It is common for Israeli songwriters and singers to perform in front of IDF soldiers on the front. It began on the War of Independence, when the whole country was mobilized, including the songers and songwriter, and still is all the way up to today.

The famous of them in Israel was Yafa Yarkoni, which was called the War singer (although she preferred to be referred to as the Soldiers singer). Even Leonard Cohen had flawed all the from America to perform in front of IDF soldiers in the Yom Kippor war.

I do not know if you remember Ehud Banai, but Ima insisted I translate to you his song – Mahari Na (Hurry up). It is better known as The Kid is 30 years old, which talks about a 30 years old guy who lives with his parents and still could not find his way in the world.

Ehud Banai even has a song called a Reserve Duty Performance, talking about how he went up to an IDF post to perform. The real story was how he was waited for a car to the post to perform. A military car then stopped, and a soldier asked him a song. The soldier was on the way to Lebanon, and Ehud Banai sang for him tapping on the helmet. The soldier later killed on the convoy to Lebanon.

Take Care
Gad
