When we were about to get in Lebanon, Atzva sent a pack of gummy candies with me. I, in my stupidity, put in my backpack on the top pocket while I left it on the sun on the shore of the Kinneret.
When I opened the bag, deep inside Lebanon, I found that the gummy candies melted, and I was left with big, colorful,sticky balk of gummy with undefined taste.
In my situation, and the fact I just can’t spare any food (especially sweets) , I just started eating it. And by eating, I mean trying to rip chunk by chunk. What caused everybody around me to be deeply disturbed. They later, of course, came to ask for a piece.
My Rasap (Company Sergeant major) is also addicted to those gummy candies and managed to send in several packs to keep me motivated.
After Lebanon, in one of our summary conversations, we were asked to set a promise to ourselves to make our lives better. I talked first and said I was done with those gummy candies.
Like one of our officers we had, which insisted he only smokes when he is in military reserve duty. During the rest of the time, he only smokes once in a while.
And I am the same, I almost do not eat any gummy candies when I am at home (and definitely not buying any). And when I am in the army, I just can’t stop eating it.
The problem is, for him, and for me – is that we almost all the time in military reserve duty for the past two years…
