Dead Sea Works, Israel
Hi,
I finally got the chance to talk about my work in Dead Sea Works (DSW), and show you some pictures from the place, but something happened.
An attack on IDF soldiers in the northern border of Israel. The sad thing about that attack was that we all knew it will come. Part of the “eye for an eye” ritual we use here in the Middle east. We had to pay for the attack that killed 5 Hezbollah and one Iranian General one week ago. These was no surprise that that attack will be as painful and hard as it was, in a matter of fact it might be that we got lucky with “only” two soldiers killed and another 7 wounded to get back to the quiet in the Northern border.
So what next? Hopefully nothing: our government will hold back, we paid our due for the attack in the Syrian Golan and in a week will be back on dealing with our elections. The worst case scenario is a third Lebanon war: Israel will try to hit back Hezbollah in Lebanon, and what happened about 10 years ago will be repeated.
But non of the sides wants war. Hezbollah is deep in the Syrian mad and Israel just finished a “Round of fighting” in Gaza Strip. So Israel paid the debt of blood, but no soldier was kidnapped so we won’t have a reason to start a war.
That’s how the Middle-Eastern code of blood works.

The Potash Mountain. The Potash produced here is white, while the one mined from the ground is red.
The DSW produce also other chemical products, like Bromine (like the plant on top) and Magnesium (the planet on the bottom).
The mountain of salt. Those are by products of the factory that mined from the bottom of the evaporation pools. Not until long ago, the DSW didn’t mined it and the surface of the water kept going up until it put in danger the hotels of the Dead Sea. Only after a long struggle the DSW agreed to mined it.
Like other big factories, the DSW has its own power planet.
A new one is been built to use the Natural Gas that was found in Israel, which is cheaper and less polluting than coal and diesel.
The Conveyor belt – That conveyor was used to transport the Potash up those stiff cliff and save the trucks the hard climbing. Those days, with a new road and stronger trucks it is seldom used.
The water reservoirs of DSW. Because it is in a such a far site, the factory drill and pump its own other from around it. The water are stored in those reservoir: one is for sweet water and the other for salty water for the chemical process.
