Porters – 717th day of war

Hi,
Sometimes, I think we are Porters more than soldiers. Some of our missions include carrying large amounts of explosives into houses, up the stairs, or down into tunnels.

But this is only the part of the missions given to us and the work we need to do. On top of that we also have our logistics and supply we need to take care of.

Each time we move in and out of a location we are staying in, we need to upload up on a truck, all the beds, tables, chairs, refrigerators, personal bags and everything else we need to our living in from our base. And then download it to we are about to stay in. We did it about every two weeks in the past 3 months.

All the food, water, ammunition and other stuff we need for daily living is brought in by trucks, every couple of days – and we need to carry it in to our place.

There are no elevators where we are staying, so everything has to be taken up by the stairs. In one location, we had to carry all the supplies and ammunition by stairs up (and later down) three stories.

It reminds me the time when we moved our apartment in Ramat-Gan: one of porters came with a t-shirt from his army unit saying Porter on its back. He was in the anti-tank missiles platoon of Givati Brigade reconnaissance battalion. Most of their training was carrying the Orev missiles and systems around on their back from place to place.

Take Care
