Judo

Hi,
I did write to you about how Israel is relatively an empire in Judo.

This is the sport Israel got it first olympic medal in, and keeps getting medals in a relatively consistent way.

Today, Sabbath, in the morning, we packed my two kids and drove to not far away sports hall to a competition. As they are both on kindergarten, it was more training than a competition, and they all won medal and a sticker.

I guess that will happen more frequently from now on. No matter which sport they will choose to train in. Football matches for kids are usually on Sabbath morning each week.

If you ask me how they got the Judo and no football or basketball, the answer is probably not what you would expect. It is not about how they watched the Israeli judo athletes, admired them (they just now won several medals in the world championship, and our national team is fourth on the medal table. ), and wish to be such. Or they don’t like football or basketball.

The reasons are much more practical. This afternoon activity is in the community center near our house (so you do not have to drive the kids). This afternoon activity also has the best value for money in the community center – It happens twice a week for the same price of once a week activity.

It might be one of our kids will be an Olympic athlete. And when he will be asked why he had chosen Judo as his sport, one will answer – it was the cheapest one…
