IDF Spokesman announcement on the successful assassination in Ali Khamenei This morning sparked joy for both the people of Israel and for the people of Iran.
He was killed yesterday morning in the first strike of Operation She’agát ha’arí (Epic Fury). And his location set the starting point of this all operation.
As Iran’s Supreme Leader since 1989, he ruled with immense power, guiding Iran’s political, military, and ideological direction while suppressing opposition and confronting Israel and the West.
For many Israelis, Khamenei symbolized decades of existential threat of Iran. His repeated calls for Israel’s destruction, support Iran militant proxies across the region (Houthis and Hezbollah) , and backing of hostile military actions created constant fear and instability on the borders of Israel.
Ever since I remember myself he was over there, far on the east, as a shadow of hostile regime. His death represents, for many, not a revenge (as many see it) but relief from that constant threat over Israel and his relentless campaign against Israel existence.
But it is not only in Israel that Ali Khamenei assassination sparked hope. But also for many Iranians, in Iran and outside of it. For those Iranians citizens Khamenei represented repression, censorship, and lost freedom. His government crushed protests, imprisoned dissidents, and silenced voices demanding dignity and reform
His death is an hope of a new future, better for both Iran and the all middle east.
