Reut – 713th day of war

Hi,
“Reut (camaraderie),” one of my brothers in Arms said, ” I hate it, I knew that what would happen. I knew I should not have come. I should have just said no in the first place.”

“What is wrong?” I said

“They are using it as a weapon against us. Once I see everybody, I can’t just let them go in Gaza and fight while I go back home. I just can’t”

“And I do not believe what we are about to there will help to free the hostages, and I think we do horrible things in there (at least in some places) and I think we are only make this war last longer, and I think this is a political war to help Bibi keep its government and to keep himself out his trails“.

“And here I am, do things I completely do not agree with. You know what – something is completely against my beliefs only because only because of this Reut thing…”

I guess the guy who added the Reut into the eight IDF values of the spirit of IDF. It can be translated into camaraderie (in English Version of the spirit of the IDF it listed as comradeship) – A deep feeling of friendship between brothers in arms or something similar.

Right now, that seems to be what holds our company together: with soldiers who are here only because of deep feeling of commitment to their fellow soldiers in the platoon. Who join in only because they are feeling guilty if they will send them in alone and will be there with them.

Take Care
Gad
