Sde Dov Airport closing

Hi,

I never took a flight from Sde Dov airport, which served mostly the people of Eilat. The only time I did flew to Eilat was through Ben Gurion Airport, that will replace Sde Dov Airport as the main airport to those flying from Eilat.

But I did enjoyed it very much indeed 🙂. The airport lies on the sands North to Tel-Aviv. Back in days it was built (1938) Tel-Aviv was smaller and did not crossed the Yarkon river. The land here was not worth much, and it made sense to have an airport om the straight dune sands. Now it surrounded by residential buildings, and a new neigberhood is designed to be built upon it expensive sands.

I used to run on the shore along it. The magnificent part was to stand on the mouth of the Yarkon river just underneath the landing planes. You could literally feels the engines of the plane as it foes down to to the airport.
But also Jannaeus enjoyed it, and probably Mindal too, if it was not been closed.

When we going to the beach, we pack our stuff and get to Tel-Baruch beach. It is highly accessible, due to the big parking lot next to it. It is outside the city, which makes it easier to get to. Its southern part is also defined allowed for dogs, which makes it perfect for Xuxa. We are having Friday evening dinner on the shore with my sisters an brothers, while the kids enjoying the sea and their grandparents, the dogs are running around in circles and barking.

The beach is along Sde Dov airport, what makes it a good spot to watch the planes take-offs. Either small or big, it is also nice to watch a plane take off, even if you don’t watch it with a tear in your eye.

Take care
Gad
