September 4, 2016 – Shutting down the train

Hi,
Tel AvivHaifa railway line trainwas shut down for today.
Not only it is the most crowded line of train in Israel, today is also Sunday which is the most crowded day in Israel (All the soldiers going back to the base, all the workers living far driving to work).

It isn’t the first time Israel government try to satisfy the religious Knesset member (KM) which are part of the government. It happens most of the time. Religious parties did make some Israel government to resign over Sabbath issues.

After it was agreed that some of the works of the train will be done in Sabbath (“Life saving works”), the religious KM decided it it also not good enough and demanded to stop all the works. The order was given 5 minutes before Sabbath started and after some of the railway was taken apart. Because of Sabbath, the work could only be resumed in Saturday evening but could not be completed before Sunday morning.

As I see it, we have a PM that manage hold together his government again, but missed a chance to do something meaningful. We a Status Quo situation which things don’t change in way religious has a word in how the country being run. That, for example, is a change in the Status Quo.

Moreover our PM doesn’t like politicians that might be a threat to his future governments. Israel Katz, the ministry of transportation might be one of those. There is a hugh wave in investment in the transportation in Israel (trains, light trains, roads, railways) and the credit goes to Katz. Bibi sees this as threat to his rule, and try to hurt him.
Yes, it might be the whole thing is because of inside party government.

Anyway, no matter what is the real reason – guess who is fucked up? The small citizens…

Take Care
Gad
