Hi,
That’s it, Operation Pillar of defense (or Pillar of cloud as we call it) has ended.
Just another round in our conflict with Hamas at the Gaza strip? Maybe, but I think this one is different.
For some reasons:

First. it was a right wing government that “had stopped” the IDF from winning.

The same people that kept calming that all you had to do to prevent the rockets from Gaza is let the IDF to destroy Hamas regime. Now, when they had the chance to do so, and a mass of reserve was draft to do so. They come to realize that this not that simple… That won’t really do the work.

Second. Until now the terror from Gaza strip was pretty much restricted to Shorthorn Israel (Once you will take a look at the map, you realized how stupid is that expression…). That time we had rockets to Tel Aviv (we hadn’t have those since 1991) and to Jerusalem (didn’t happen since 1970), and a bomb attack in a bus at Tel Aviv (not since 2005). That put more pressure on our “leadership” to stop it as fast as possible, and find a real solution to Gaza strip problem.

As I see it, we didn’t earn much from that operation (Pillar of defense). It just made me understand, again, we won’t be able to finish the Gaza strip (and Palestinian problem in general) by force. We need a solution based on talking, something that most of our leaders refuse to even think about. But not talking only with Hamas (something we do, but keep calling it a terror organization, and saying we won’t talk with it), but also with Egypt, Qatar, United Arab Emirates.

Take Care
Gad
