Harod spring 💧

Hi,
The End of Summer – Brothers and sisters – Birthday – 3 day camping was set to be on Harod Spring nature park underneath Gilboa mountains (Ein Harod)

The spring feeds a small stream full of wading pools perfect for small kids like we have (similar to the pools on Yarkon river sources nature reserve). It seems that how the spring in Israel will look like – organized under the Nature park authority rule and no more original nature (it is very clean organized and not crowded)

The spring is mentioned in the bible (Judges 6-8) in the story of Gideon, a Biblical judge. Here Gideon picked 300 valiant men to fight and defeat the Midianite army. He picked by taking his army to this spring and let them drink and choose the 300 that drunk using their hands and  not those who lap like dogs.

Yehoshua and Olga Hankin house and graves are above the spring. Hankin was an activist Zionist and has been declared as The land Redeemer – he was responsible for the most major land purchases in Israel during the Ottoman and Mandatory times (including Sursock purchase). The house is built in the Bauhaus style on the slopes of the Gilboa just above the spring and now used as a museum for the Jewish settlement in the Valley. The graves of Yehoshua and Olga are chiseled in cave near the house.
